Nesting Scrapstore at the Shetland Climate Festival
June 10th 2023

The Nesting Scrapstore joined the Shetland Climate Festival to champion reuse, waste reduction and the circular economy.

The Nesting Scrapstore took part in the Shetland Climate Festival at Clickimin on 9–10 June 2023, joining more than 30 exhibitors sharing practical responses to climate change.

Our display highlighted the Scrapstore’s role in keeping useful materials in circulation, reducing waste and making low-cost resources available to households, schools, groups and makers. Visitors were able to find out how donating and reusing materials supports a more circular local economy.

The festival brought together organisations working across resource use, energy, transport, buildings, business and nature-based solutions. It was a valuable opportunity to share the Scrapstore’s work, meet potential partners and encourage more people to choose reuse.

The appearance followed a major funding boost for the service: Highlands and Islands Enterprise approved £24,022 in 2023 to extend the popular Scrapstore and help increase its turnover and long-term sustainability.
