Warm Spaces and Peerie Daytrips Oot brought local people together through food, activities, free transport and affordable days out.
During winter 2022–23, CDCN supported South Nesting Public Hall to secure £4,184 from Shetland Islands Council’s Winter Activities Fund and helped coordinate eleven Warm Spaces events.
The programme offered free transport, food, activities, workshops, talks and films. Approximately 80–100 people took part.
The programme also supported free Peerie Daytrips Oot to Brae, Scalloway and Walls, combining transport, lunch and local visits. The final trip on 31 March 2023 took participants around Muckle Roe, with lunch at Frankie’s Fish & Chips. Together, the activities helped people connect and enjoy affordable days out during the cost-of-living crisis.
